OpenVT Summit 2027¶
Vision Zero, a future with no deaths or serious injuries on our roads, is a goal that can only be achieved together. Open tools, models and data let researchers, industry and regulators build on each other's work and move faster together.
OpenVT Summit brings together everyone who develops or uses open tools in vehicle safety, virtual testing, and injury biomechanics.
10–11 February 2027, Online
Why attend¶
- Discover open tools for virtual testing, injury biomechanics and road safety you can put to work.
- See them in action in talks from the people who use them.
- Connect with academia, industry and other stakeholders working towards Vision Zero.
Themes¶
- Open data — collection, curation, licensing and sharing.
- Open models and tools — human body models, simulation and virtual-testing software, scenario generation.
- Injury biomechanics — studies built on open human body models and open tools.
- Road safety studies — analyses with methods, code or data openly available.
- Reproducibility — pipelines, benchmarks and evaluation practice.
- Testing and policy — open source in testing and regulation.

Why Open Science for Vision Zero¶
Road safety research depends on data, models and tooling that are too often locked away — inside proprietary formats, unpublished pipelines, or a single research group. Open methods make results reproducible, comparable and reusable, which is what turns individual studies into a shared evidence base.
The summit exists to make that practical: to show what open work looks like in this field, and to connect the people already doing it.
Open Virtual Testing Organisation (OVTO)¶
OpenVT Summit is organised by the Open Virtual Testing Organisation (OVTO). OVTO is an initiative to foster Open Science for virtual road safety testing. OVTO hosts OpenVT, a collaborative platform for researchers, industry and other stakeholders in road safety and virtual testing.
